LT Leines enlisted in the Army September, 1985 as an 11B light infantryman. His assignments include Squad Leader, 3rd Platoon, C Company, 1st/75th Ranger Regiment, Ranger Instructor, B Company, 5th Ranger Training Battalion, and Assistant Team Sergeant Ranger Reconnaissance Detachment 75th Ranger Regiment. LT Leines is a graduate of the US Army’s Airborne, Ranger, Sniper and Military Freefall Parachutist schools. His army decorations include the Ranger tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Freefall Parachutist Badge, Master Parachutist Badge (Bronze Star), British Parachutist Badge, Jordanian Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Award (Spearhead Device).

Prior to deploying to Iraq, LT Leines was stationed as the Public Works Officer and Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (ROICC) at Naval Air Station Atlanta in Marietta, Georgia. He will return there upon completion of his tour with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and should transfer in June 2008.

Lieutenant Leines was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps in 1998 following graduation from Utah State University, Logan Utah , with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering.

Prior tours include Assistant ROICC, NAS Lemoore California, Company Officer, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) Three and Assistant Course Director, Seabee Readiness Division, Civil Engineer Corps Officer School. LT Leines assignments while in NMCB 3 included OIC, Deployment for Training, Gabon, Africa, Seabee Engineering Reconnaissance Team (SERT) OIC, Assistant Air Detachment OIC and Training Officer.

LT Leines is an Engineer in Training, Acquisition Level 2 qualified, and is a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer. His awards and decorations include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2), Expert Rifle Marksmanship, and Expert Pistol Marksmanship.

LT Leines has three children, Robert (21) and Sierra (12) and Logan (6). His family resides in Canton, Georgia.
